Ian is a leading light in the Telford and Wrekin Parkinson’s Support Group which meets at the Ketley Community Centre in Telford. There are over 60 members and their carers who attend the Centre, where all sorts of activities are put on.
The group has been going for 10 years and Ian says that they aim to inform and encourage social links between the members and the local communities. He says: “We have lots of visitors to the centre and we put on physio sessions and indoor bowling to keep people physically active. Then we have talks from consultants and visitors on a host of topics, and even dabble in a little Ukulele playing and sing a few songs!”
Family holidays are important to Ian, enabling his children and grandchildren to get together and also for them to learn something of his Parkinson's condition, which unfortunately is getting worse, but hasn't yet affected his enjoyment of driving.
Ian proudly announces: “The family now numbers 14 with my 3 children, spouses and now 6 grandchildren, turning up with 4 Vauxhalls parked at the various cottages we have rented in the UK. (2 Insignias, 1 Zafira and this year will be the Mokka ).
Ian has bought his last two cars from sales consultant Andy Gollins at the Greenhous Vauxhall dealership and he is full of praise for the customer service he has received saying: “Andy Gollins has been superb throughout, recognising the needs of customers, particularly now the Parkinson's condition as he has at least one more customer from our support group who is now on his second Mokka. Andy has seen an opportunity for Greenhous to support us and we look forward to an event to be organised sometime later this year.
“Let’s not forget the excellent work done by the service teams looking after the servicing of all my cars including all the company Vauxhall vehicles I had prior to buying my own replacement car from Greenhous.”
