The Greenhous showroom at Telford was inundated with customers keen to invest in Vauxhall’s innovative new electric vehicle when it was released in March, and the business was quick to realise the need to provide additional support. After sales director Dave Sullivan said: “While more and more garages and service stations are installing charging points, we felt that a key area of after sales would be to provide a re-charging facility for those Greenhous customers who have invested in an Ampera while their car is with the service department.
“All Amperas brought in to the service department will be charged for the customers so that they have maximum power for their journey onward, it’s really just another way for the Greenhous team to add value to our service offering,” he said.
Vauxhall’s research demonstrated that the average European driver drives 25 miles or less a day, so the Ampera was designed to travel 25-50 miles on battery power alone, while an on-board Range Extender is calibrated to the vehicle’s battery management system to detect the minimum charge level and starts to generate electricity when it reaches that point; enabling the car to travel up to 310 miles.
“We pride ourselves on providing an excellent after-sales service so that the relationship with our customer doesn’t end when they drive their car off the forecourt, and this service is all part and parcel of that,” he added.
