After a continuous spell of service amounting to nearly 35 years Andy Giordano has laid down his tools for the last time at the Greenhous Vauxhall service department in Trench Lock, Telford. Or so we thought! Andy has said he will make himself available to cover for absent colleagues on a casual basis so his invaluable experience will not be lost to the dealership just yet.
Andy actually started at Vincent Greenhous on Old Ketley Road in August 1967 after leaving school and joining the company on a 5 year apprenticeship. So his relationship with Greenhous spans 50 years!
Whilst on his apprenticeship he attended the Walker Technical College (now TCAT) attaining high grades in such areas as Motor Vehicle Technician Class A and B and his City and Guilds in Workshop Practice.
After a 2 year break from Greenhous due to a redundancy situation, Andy returned to the fold initially to cover for a technician who had been injured. Andy passed his Master Technician qualification in 1996. He moved with Greenhous Vauxhall to the present dealership in Trench Lock in 2000 and also took on responsibility for Health and safety in the workplace.
Andy says: “I could not wish to have had a better set of colleagues and friends that I have gained over the years. They haven’t seen the last of me though as I have been asked if I would provide temporary cover for the department if there are absences through illness or holiday. I will look forward to popping in and meeting up with everyone again.”
Greenhous is proud to recognise the efforts and loyalty of long- serving staff like Andy and we wish him a happy retirement – for now!
