Annual charity cycle ride to benefit hundreds of children and families.
Around 19 regular cycle enthusiasts will be endeavouring to travel 125 miles on a route from the Greenhous Vauxhall dealership in Trench Lock to the coastal resort of Porthmadog in Wales on Saturday, 27th August. In the past the ride has raised significant sums of money towards the Layla Pitt Remembrance Trust which has helped to provide support for family facilities at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and to provide opportunities for children to take part in performing arts.

The trust was set up by Layla’s parents, Rachel and Tristan after she tragically died from a catastrophic brain haemorrhage in August 2008.  Layla will always be remembered as a bright, caring and talented girl.  A family room was provided at Alder Hey by the Trust which cost in the region of £10,000.  They continue to support Hope House Children’s Hospice and are targeting to raise funds for further children and family facilities at Alder Hey.

Last year the cycle ride raised around £3,000.  Tristan and Rachel and their family and supporters also organise an annual Ball, this year on the 19th November at Patshull Park Hotel, and a golf day (to be confirmed).

This year the route is set to take in a coastal stretch as well as a mountain climb, such is the enthusiasm for a challenge from this set of riders.  All will be kitted out in a specially designed lycra shirt for the 10 hour journey.
