Ricky is a technician at Greenhous Vauxhall in Trench Lock, Telford and, with a fear of flying, set off at the beginning of March in his Vauxhall Insignia to explore France, Switzerland and Italy. They just missed the snow that fell in the UK. Their route took them via Dover to Calais and then on to Strasburg, France for an initial three day break.
Moving on into Switzerland, the pair took in the beautiful lake and mountain scenery of Interlaken before heading high into the mountains to the Grindelwald ski area, where a train took Ricky and Kirsty to Jungfraujoch, the Top of Europe view point at 3,454 m or 11,333 feet above sea level. Ricky admits to suffering from altitude sickness!
Then it was off into Italy to visit Milan and Venice. Monaco and Nice were on the agenda as the pair returned into France on their return leg, stopping off in mid-country at Troyes. The 2 litre turbo petrol Insignia performed a treat all holiday.
Ricky reflects: “The car was superb throughout the journey and we had the time of our lives taking nearly a thousand photographs of some stunning scenery. I would recommend it to anyone. We had done a smaller 400 mile tour of Scotland before and honeymooned in Southern Ireland, but this was our first major travelling holiday. I would like to go to explore Norway in the future.
“After such a trouble-free journey throughout Europe it was ironic that when we returned to the UK we hit all sorts of traffic issues and the journey from Dover to Broseley, near Telford, where we live took 12 hours!”
