Young directors make advert

Young directors make advert
The children of Club 0-14 in Shrewsbury were given a unique opportunity during their summer holiday break. Greenhous Vauxhall on Old Potts Way invited the youngsters to produce an advert for the new Vauxhall Adam. A call from Paul Smith-Keitley, technology manager of Club 0 -14, led to the visit taking place. Parents were contacted to say that there would be an opportunity for their children to take digital photos and video at the showroom, returning to Club 0-14 to use the suite of computers to edit a and produce an advert.

Paul relates what happened, “We chose Greenhous to work with because they are a local business that works widely in the community, supporting, among other things Shrewsbury Town Football Club. They really embraced the idea of having the children come over and work on the ad and spent a considerable amount of time explaining the vehicles in the showroom to the children.

“We chose the Adam as the vehicle to work with because of its huge range of options, making it possible for the children to each create their own unique vehicle using the online configurator. “The children had a great time learning about the vehicles and finding out all the options that are available on the Adam.”

On hand to steer the group though the showroom and answer questions were Greenhous sales executive, Sam Buckley and E-commerce assistant, Matthew Jones. Matthew was amazed at the enthusiasm of the youngsters on the visit. “They were in and out of cars and asked countless questions of Sam who was brilliant in answering every one of them. It is really encouraging to see young children involved in using technology and learning how to produce an advert.”

The advert can be seen by visiting the You Tube link: The Club 0-14 Out of School Club has been in operation for almost 14 years and is located in Coleham. Children attend from all parts of Shrewsbury. The facilities include a large outdoor area, craft area and a computer and technology centre. Paul is always looking for local businesses for the children to visit and do projects with. The club takes children from 4 to 14 and currently provides breakfast and after school clubs as well as holiday clubs.
